History
I was born 6 March 1939 in The Hague, as the only child of the well-known artist Hendricus Johannes (Henk) van den Ende and Maria Frederika van Nelfen.
In the period 1959 - 1960 I lived in Paris for several months and later in Fontainebleau, where my father and I studied the Impressionists and the Barbizon School.
In 1978 I befriended Alexander (Lex) Coenraad Rosemeier. Rosemeier, born in 1888, was the last exponent of the Leiden School.
As I was impressed and moved by Rosemeier's work, I asked him to teach me. He agreed, and, when the weather was fair, we would often go out with our wives to paint outdoors.
In May 1977, on Rosemeier's recommendation I was appointed Secretary of The Netherlands Art Society in The Hague, a position that I held until November 1978.

My works and those of others
In general, my works are done with oil colours, pastels, watercolours and charcoal.
The subjects are very varied, ranging from flowerbulb fields, flowers, animals and interiors to landscapes, townscapes and even a handful of portraits.
I nurture an admiration for the works of Claude Monet, Anton L. Koster and Cornelis Vreedenburgh.
